Description
Camino
Camino is the debut album of Duo Delibes, an intimate and profound project that gathers and encapsulates the musical experience of the duo’s recent years through repertoire of Spanish music for violin and piano, spanning from the 18th century to the present day.
Duo Delibes consists of sisters Sara and Esther Gutiérrez, born in Valladolid, currently residing in Germany and The Netherlands. In their concerts as a duo, especially abroad, they are often asked whether they can perform Spanish music. This constant curiosity about their culture has been the driving force behind the deeper exploration of their musical heritage.
As natives of Valladolid, the title Camino inevitably evokes the novel by Miguel Delibes, a fellow countryman and the inspiration behind the name of the duo, as well as their own roots. This recording is there- fore both a personal and artistic journey: a path through the Spanish repertoire for violin and piano that traces their own musical and cultural trajectory through works that, for the most part, have never been recorded or even published. With this album, the duo aim to share an essential part of their heritage that still remains in the shadows, and to actively contribute to its dissemination and recognition.
Sara and Esther Gutiérrez started to play together at a very early age, performing the first concert of their professional career as a duo in 2010, at Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid. Since then they have performed at many important venues in Spain, Germany, France, The Netherlands and Austria. They have been invited to per- form at prestigious festivals such as ‘Santander International Music Festival’, ‘Internationales Klavier Festival’ in Hainfeld, ‘Las noches del Olivar’ in Madrid and XXVII chamber music festival ‘Martes Musicales’ in Vitoria. Currently Sara Gutiérrez holds a teaching position at Codarts University for the Arts (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and Esther Gutiérrez is member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Baden-Baden (Germany) as sub-principal of the first violins section.

Press reviews
Positive Feedback (febr 2026)
The title Camino—”road” or “path”—is apt. Esther and Sara explain that frequent requests abroad for “Spanish music” prompted a deeper exploration of their own heritage. This recording traces both a personal and artistic journey through Spanish repertoire for violin and piano, much of it previously unrecorded or unpublished. The album feels not only curated but claimed—an act of cultural reclamation and advocacy.
Recorded in July 2025 in the Sala de Cámara of the Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes in Valladolid by Cobra Records founder and chief engineer Tom Peeters, with DSD Direct Mixed mastering by Tom Caulfield, the sound is simply superb. Transparent, timbrally truthful, beautifully balanced—the violin and piano breathe in a natural acoustic space. This is one of those rare recordings that pulls me forward in my chair, fully attentive, eager for whatever comes next.
A treasure.
